One of the world’s leading providers of communications solutions and services operating in 170 countries. Its principal activities include networked IT services, local, national and international telecommunications services, and higher-value broadband and internet products and services.

Project Overview & Objectives

The client found that the margins between its wholesale and retail billing were not as expected but did not have the management data sufficient to determine the reasons. The client asked Synaptitude to team with one their key managers to perform a detailed reconciliation of the billing data to find the cause of the discrepancies and uncover any errors.

Our Involvement

Synaptitude’s consultants developed complex data queries against three different enterprise databases to perform analysis, uncover issues, and compare actual billings against contracts and orders. This analysis found numerous services that the client had not been billing their customers for, many invalid costs that the client was paying for unnecessarily, and unwound some complicated scenarios to develop management reporting on additional margin discrepancies.

Results and Benefits

The end result of the project $1.3 million saved in annual external supply cost, $1 million in additional customer billings, and an increased understanding delivered to client management of their retail margins.
